Event Information Dear
Fellow Reenactors;
We
have been invited by the Genesee State Park Region to put on this
encampment at Hamlin Beach State Park on the shores of Lake Ontario,
the weekend of August 18 to 20, 2006. The park comes with full use
of the park facilities (hot showers, flush toilets and use of the
beach). Hamlin Beach
State Park is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, is 25
miles west of Rochester, New York on the Lake Ontario State Parkway.
It is 25 miles north of the New York State Thruway, LeRoy exchange,
off of State Route 19 in Hamlin.
Genesee State Park Region Recreation Department
is providing entertainment. Saturday night, Allen Hopkins will be
there to perform period music for the dance. The reenactment will
also include a battle each day, all day living history, a full slate
of civilian activities, which will include a Saturday Evening
there will be night fire after the dance. We will have both
authentic camps and a modern camp. The park comes with full use of
the park facilities (flush toilets). Wood, Straw, Hay for horses and
water is provided. This year there will also be a Food Vendor,
which will be open Friday night, and Saturday and Sunday from
breakfast till dinner.
This
is the eighth year of this event in the park, so we have a unique
opportunity to educate the public and the park about the lifestyles
and history of the Civil War period. For this reason we are going to
emphasize authenticity, re-enactor and public interaction. Your ideas
and scenarios are welcome. There will be spectators coming from the
park campground, summer recreation programs and local people. Our
impression on the park and its patrons will be important to the
future of this event.
We are pleased to announce that the 4th
South Carolina, the 5th Virginia, Co. A, 49th New York, Co. H, and
94th New York will be sponsors of this event.
Pre-registration
is encouraged on the attached forms. Registration fees will be $5.00
per person with pre-registration before August 4th, 2006
